Three year weed treatment plan
We have been granted a
three-year
fluridone permit by the DEQ!
Professional
Lake Management has mailed
post cards with the 2010 projected treatment schedule directly to our
members
(as we did a year ago). Most of you should have received them in
yesterday's
mail.
Here is
the treatment schedule. Lake Victoria is scheduled for treatments
the weeks of: April 5, April 26, June 7, July 12 and August 9.
Note:
Due to weather conditions during these weeks, the treatments may move
around
slightly. We will put out an E-Voice as soon as we have a certain
date/time.
Also, look for the postings at launches and parks.
Here is
what could be used in the lake and
their restrictions:
Navigate/2,4-D: 24-hour restriction on swimming, No
restrictions
for irrigation. No fishing restrictions.
Renovate
3
OTF/Triclopyr: 24-hour
restriction on swimming, 120 day restriction on irrigation of
ornamentals,
crops and non-crops. Lawns ok. No fishing restrictions.
Sonar
A.S./Fluridone: 24-hour
restriction on swimming. 7-day restriction on established tree crops.
30-day
restriction on irrigation of crops, turf, seedbeds or areas to be
planted.
(More info can be found here: www.plmcorp.net).
No fishing restrictions.
There
could be numerous other chemicals
(including Shade, copper sulfate, Cutrine Plus-Ultra Captain, Algimycin,
Cygnet Plus and
PolyAn), but none of these have any restrictions like the above
chemistries.
Steve
Hanson (PLM) did a lake survey
yesterday and everything looks good for the first Fluridone (Sonar)
treatment, tentatively
scheduled for April 6. Steve will be out two days later to take
concentration
samples, and then every two weeks after that. Collecting the
concentration
samples like this is a requirement of the permit.
If any of
you happen to see Steve Hanson
on our lake, please tell him thank you! We would not have been granted
this permit without his dedication, time and hard work. The DEQ had him
scrambling for information, data, calculations, etc. at the last minute
before
approving the permit.
