Based on LVPOA's average cost per fish from the
'05-'07 fish stocking program, the dollar amounts above represent the cost of a
limit of each species, per MI DNR fishing regulations.
So, if you've ever wondered why we've cracked
down on our trespassers for taking our fish and our money out of our lake, now
you know why.
Next time you go fishing, please take a camera
and leave the stringer at home, or at the very least, practice selective harvest,
keeping a few of the "just legals" for the frying pan and let the large ones
live to see another day.
As one of our veteran fisherman said to me the
other day,
"I'd rather catch it five times than eat it once."
